Turbo Agent Docs

Add the chat to your website

Publish your agent, paste one line of code into your site, and check it's working.

Customers talk to your agent through a chat button on your website. Publishing turns the chat on for your website's address, and one line of code puts the button on your pages.

Before you publish

Select Preview on the agent's page and ask it a few questions your customers ask. Publishing is available once the agent knows what to do and has something to answer from.

Publish your agent

Open the agent

In Agents, open the agent you want customers to talk to.

Select Publish

Publish is at the top of the agent's page.

Enter your website address

Enter the full address customers visit, such as https://www.yourshop.co.uk, then select Publish.

Add the code to your site

Once it's published, you'll see the code to add. Select Copy code, or Email the code to whoever looks after your website.

Paste it once, somewhere that's on every page, usually the footer. The chat appears as soon as the code is live on your site.

Check it's working

Open your website in a new tab. The chat button appears in the bottom corner. Ask it a question to be sure.

Back in Turbo Agent, the button at the top of the agent's page shows Finish install until the code is found on your site, then Live.

If the chat hasn't loaded on your site for a day, the button shows Check install instead, and administrators get a notification. Select it to see when the chat last loaded, with the code to add again if it's no longer on your site. The button shows Live again as soon as the chat loads.

What the chat counts

For Insights, the code counts every page customers see: the page's address, the kind of device, whether they came from a search, social media, an email or an ad, and their country. Checkout and account pages are counted without their address. Nothing is stored on the customer's device, and nothing identifies anyone.

Browsers that ask not to be tracked (Global Privacy Control) and search engine robots aren't counted. To stop counting altogether, add data-reporting="off" to the code:

<script src="…/widget.js" data-turbo-agent data-deployment="…" data-reporting="off" async></script>

The chat itself works the same either way.

Use more than one address

The chat only runs on the addresses you publish to, so the code does nothing if it's copied onto another site. Each address has to match exactly: if your site opens both with and without www, enter both, separated by a comma.

Take the chat off your site

Select Live, Check install or Finish install at the top of the agent's page. Open More options, select Unpublish, then confirm. The chat button disappears from your website until you publish again. Chats already open stay in your inbox.

You don't need to remove the code. It stays inactive until you publish again.
